CUBANA Airlines Review. The worst.

It all seemed fine and normal when we checked in. We got to the airport super early and were some of the first people checked on to the flight. My mother has knee problems and I am very tall so we asked the lady to make sure we were seated in the front of the plane. She said "don't worry you are way up in row 9 and you'll be fine". We thanked her, went through security, waited by our gate and then boarded the plane.
The spaces between the seats on the CUBANA airplanes are EXTREMELY SMALL. I mean smaller than average (I will never say anything bad about Air Canada or Delta again, I didn't know how good I had it). I mean your knees, even if you are short or average height, instantly hit the seat in front of you. Then because we were in row 9 and behind was row 10, which is the emergency exit, seats in row 9 are not allowed to recline back. What kind of nonsense is that? So everyone on the plane started pushing their seats back. You can't blame them, because the spaces are so small. Everyone except us in row 9! Because we COULD NOT! The seat in front of me was literally jamming into my knees. So many people on the plane would just spend the flight duration standing up in the aisles (when the seat belt sign was turned off of course). The flight attendants were extremely rude! Not one smiled. And the lunch option (singular not plural because here are no options on this airline) is a ham sandwich, bread and butter and a fruit juice. The flight attendants literally just shove the "meal" in your face. I mean most airlines don't even carry pork options because of so many dietary and religious restrictions. CUBANA is clearly in the past. We finally arrived in Cuba. To say the least, CUBANA airlines set the tone for our trip in Cuba in regards to customer service, which is non existent in Cuba. On our way back to Toronto. We checked in, went through security, headed to our gate and waited to board. While we were waiting by our gate, a young man came up to me and said "that's odd, the screen says we are boarding, but no flight crew is by the gate to board us and there is no plane outside." Then another young man decided to see what was happening, so he went upstairs (our gate was in the basement) and returned and told us that they had switched gates on us without telling anyone. They didn't even update the gate change on the screens!! Then super late a CUBANA rep came down and yelled at us, "you guys are at the wrong gate, can't you see it's boarding." We found this out for ourselves, so she really was not needed. The flight back was the same nonsense. Oh yeah and my eating tray was broken, so I had to eat food out of my lap. And CUBANA airlines does not have the most up to date Canadian immigration form. This airline is just the worst! The only reason we took it was because all the Air Canada and West Jet flights were sold out. It was just horrible!
