Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam
I went to the Van Gogh museum in December of 2014 on my
weekend in Amsterdam. I loved Amsterdam, it is such a beautiful city with great
architecture, diverse food and very friendly people. I hope to go back next summer. My second morning in Amsterdam, my friend and I went to the
Van Gogh museum. This was after a failed attempt the morning before. The day
before we went thinking we would be able to just buy tickets and see the museum
quickly. Boy were we wrong! We got there and met a huge, wrap around the
sidewalk line. Buy your tickets ahead of time, and even when you do that, arrive
at least 30 minutes ahead of your entry time. There is always a line at that
museum. The next morning, with our tickets in our hands we got to the museum a
half an hour before it opened and there was a line. It wasn’t too bad because
the line up for ticket holders moved quite quickly once the museum opened. Once
inside the museum, you pass the gift shop, café and coat check. I kept my coat
on and I went to start looking at the art. The museum is very beautiful and there
was a wide variety of Van Gogh’s art. You also get to see childhood photos and
photos of his family. I really liked this museum and recommend it to anyone who
goes to Amsterdam.
